Continuing Medical Education
Interactive Video
DFPM-CME utilizes the UAMS-ITV Distant Learning network which encompasses seven Area Health Education Centers with eight additional health specialty centers, as well as other rural hospitals. The programs will also be offered via Tandberg technology to the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) distant learning sites developed through the ADH Bioterrorism Program. By having the opportunity to view programming via interactive technology, medical professionals are able to participate in CME programs at local hospitals and clinics without having to travel long distances, thereby losing “professional practice time”.
By utilizing the current compressed video networks, DFPM-CME is able to provide rural-based community health care providers with quality CME. . Interactive Media (ITV) refers to telecommunication channels that allow the two-way exchange of information. An interactive videoconference is the two-way exchange of video, audio and data, transmitted back and forth between two or more points. This allows a health care professional in rural Arkansas to view, hear and have the opportunity to ask questions to a presenter.
